For freelance SEO consultants

Find freelance SEO clients with a researched prospect list

Finding SEO clients as a freelancer usually comes down to one thing: a short list of businesses you can genuinely help, and a specific reason to contact each one. This page covers a practical way to build that list, by hand or with a researched pack.

A practical process for finding freelance SEO clients

  1. Pick one service. “Local service pages for contractors” is easier to sell than “SEO.” A narrow service makes your pitch, examples and pricing clearer.
  2. Pick one niche. Choose an industry where you understand how customers search, such as dentists, roofers or law firms. Your second and third clients in the same niche get easier because your examples transfer.
  3. Choose an area. A metro or region gives you enough businesses to work through and lets you mention local context.
  4. Find public evidence. For each business, look for one specific, checkable observation related to your service: a thin service page, inconsistent contact details or missing location content.
  5. Write a specific opener. One or two sentences that mention the observation and offer something small and useful, like a short audit or example.
  6. Work a small batch and adjust. Contact 20–30 businesses, note what gets replies and refine your offer before scaling.

Do it yourself or use a researched pack

By hand

Free, and a good way to learn a niche. Expect to spend several minutes per business checking the site and listing and writing notes. Download our blank 15-column worksheet from the sample pack page to keep your research consistent.

Researched pack

Describe your service, niche and area, and Prospect Signal returns a CSV with public contacts, the observation behind each business and a suggested opener. Useful once you know your offer and want more time for outreach.

What a list can and cannot do

A prospect list gives you businesses to approach and a reason to approach them. It does not give you clients. These businesses have not asked for SEO help, and nobody can honestly promise you a set number of replies or sales. Your offer, the quality of your messages and your follow-up decide the result.

Avoid lists that promise “warm leads” or “guaranteed clients.” Ask any provider to show you sample rows and where their data comes from before paying.

What arrives in your CSV

Every pack uses the same 15 columns: Business Name, Niche/Category, City, State, Website, Business Phone, Additional Phone Numbers, Public Business Email, Contact Page / Social / Form, Google Maps / Source URL, Pain Signal, Evidence Note, Suggested Opener, Confidence Score and Notes.

For freelancers, the Evidence Note and Suggested Opener columns do the slow part of the work: they record what was observed on each business and give you a first line to adapt, so you can spend your time on outreach and delivery.

Website and email fields depend on what is publicly available, so a public email is not guaranteed for every row. The confidence score is the researcher's assessment of fit for your offer, not the probability of a sale. The delivery is an emailed CSV you can open in Google Sheets, Excel or a CRM.

Pricing and delivery

Our recommended one-time pack is 250 prospects for $59 (about 24 cents each). Want to try it first? A 50-prospect starter is $20. Other one-time sizes are 100 for $29, 500 for $99 and 1,000 for $179. Monthly pipelines are $49 for 250 prospects, $79 for 500 and $149 for 1,000. Checkout runs through Stripe, and the finished CSV is emailed when research and quality checks are complete, typically within 1–3 hours for most packs and 6–8 hours for 1,000. Restrictive briefs in small areas can take longer. See the pricing page for current terms.

Questions from freelancers

What size pack should a freelancer start with?

We recommend 250 prospects for $59 for a full campaign on one service and niche. If you want to try it first, a 50-prospect pack for $20 works. If replies are promising, a monthly pipeline gives you a steady supply.

Can I target local businesses only?

Yes. Choose the area in the order builder; research stays inside it. For Maps-driven niches, see local SEO leads.

Do I need a sales call to order?

No. You build the brief in the order builder, pay through Stripe and receive the CSV by email.
