For sellers serving a specific local market

Local business lead lists with a clear geographic fit.

Research businesses in the area you actually serve. Prospect Signal builds a custom CSV around your business audience, offer and permitted search area, with public contacts and evidence explaining why each prospect may be relevant.

Define the business you want to contact

Local leads can mean very different things. A web designer may want plumbers as potential clients. A commercial cleaning company may want property managers. A photographer may want venues as referral partners. The list should contain the business audience that matches your sales approach.

Prospect Signal researches public business-side opportunities. If you sell roofing, a list of roofing companies would usually be a list of other providers, not homeowners who need a roof. If you sell services to roofing companies, those businesses may be the correct audience.

Use the order's first question for the businesses in the list and the second for your offer to those businesses. This distinction is especially useful when your company also serves individual consumers.

Choose the search boundary deliberately

Only the selected area

Choose a city, state or region, or country and keep research inside that selected area. This is appropriate when your campaign has a firm service boundary.

Permit the same state or region

Where offered in the builder, you can explicitly allow a search beyond the starting area within the same state or region. Choose this only if those businesses are useful to your campaign.

Your recorded geographic permission governs the order. A narrow market is not silently replaced with an unrelated region to fill the pack. A large requested count combined with a small area and strict requirements may be difficult to satisfy; the available businesses and public evidence determine what can qualify.

Business location and service coverage are different facts. A contractor based in one city may serve several others. If service territory matters to your offer, make it an explicit requirement instead of assuming the business's city establishes every place it serves.

Example: commercial cleaning prospect research

Illustrative brief

Suppose you offer cleaning for offices and shared commercial spaces. You could choose property managers as the audience, describe commercial cleaning as the offer, and require publicly documented commercial property management. Exclude residential-only managers if they do not fit your service.

The resulting research should establish what the company does and how it relates to the offer. A public property-management page can support the audience fit. It cannot prove that the company is unhappy with its cleaner, has an open contract or is ready to change suppliers.

A possible opening conversation is about whether your service is relevant to the properties they manage. It should not claim that a need, budget or tender exists unless the evidence actually establishes it.

Use a brief that separates audience, offer and requirements

More context than a name and a number

The emailed CSV combines a business's name, sourced category, city and state with a public business phone, available website and additional public contact paths. Public email research is best effort, so email may be blank when no suitable public address is found.

Each row also carries a source URL, pain signal, evidence note, suggested opener, confidence score and notes. The complete format has 15 columns and can be imported into Google Sheets, Excel or a CRM. Confidence reflects assessed suitability for the offer, not likelihood of purchase.

Use the evidence to prepare before calling or writing. Public contact details provide a way to research and approach a business; they do not establish permission for every outreach method.

Questions about local business lists

Can I target a specific city or state?

Yes. Use the location selector and choose the permitted search area. State any important service-area requirements separately. Existing paid orders keep the boundary recorded for their purchase.

Do you sell homeowner or private consumer leads?

No. The product is public business research. If you serve consumers, consider an appropriate business-side audience such as venues, property managers, organizations or referral partners. See referral-partner research for examples.

Can I request a niche that is not in the dropdown?

The builder includes an Other option for a custom audience. Describe what the businesses must actually do, and state any mandatory requirements and exclusions clearly. An unusually narrow request may require more research and is not proof that enough matches exist.

What happens if a delivered row is outside my area?

The replacement policy covers invalid rows, including those outside the approved geography. Contact support with the affected row and the issue so it can be reviewed.
